About me

Hi! I’m Marcela Echevarría I’m 22 years old and an international film student at SFU. I was born In Mexico City a place filled with art, people and culture. Since I was very young I started to get interested in art first in fashion, then in painting, later in teaching and eventually in film. When I was 15 years old I moved to Queretaro, by that time I had learned how to speak German, English and a little bit of French, learning those languages allowed me to discover that I wanted to get to know the world and different cultures. For that reason during high school, I took a film diploma in Arte 7 in Queretaro and as soon I confirmed I liked film studies I applied to universities in different countries. Finally, I moved to Vancouver in order to study film and since then I have really enjoyed being surrounded by so many different people, learning from school and continuing my creative projects working with different artists and filmmakers. In the two years that I’ve been in university, I have taken courses on visual communication and graphic design along with film production courses. Therefore, I have been working mostly on production design, painting and mixed media but I have also learned about cinematography, production and sound. I really love telling stories that involve real feelings and help us understand the world we live in. I’m hoping to gain more experience in any of these creative fields and continue learning from creating with different artists.
