“Second door on the right” Is a 8 min short film I made as part of my second of film studies in SFU. The film is directed by Abby Ridd and I was responsible for the production design and costume design for the project as well as colour grading. This project is based on highlighting the beauty of mundane moments four young women experience in their shared bathroom living as roommates.

“Caminando Juntas” is a short film I directed this year as a part of my film studies at SFU. The film is based on the fear that women experience in different situations due to the gender violence situation in Mexico and I used the figure of La Catrina as a metaphor for this fear.

“Todavía no sé quien soy” is a short film I did this year in SFU. It is inspired by the idea of trying to find identity and continuing getting to know yourself as you grow. I collaborated with my friend Jeronimo Silva to create the music and used my archival footage and mixed media to create the animation.

“Llena de Flores” is a personal video I did this summer. It talks about missing people and nostalgia but being glad to have learned from the people that you crossed paths with. I did drawings and small animations. I wrote the dialogue and contacted my family for the narration.

“Mutual Space” is the first short film I worked on. I co-directed it with my close friend Ximena Baeza. Ximena is a very talented filmmaker too and she wrote the poems in the film and I helped with production design but everything was done with collaboration. This film talks about being transported into different situations through somebody’s art. This phenomenon creates a mystical mutual space where the audience can meet with the artist who created the piece in the first place.

“Como tú y yo” is a still images short film I had to do in SFU. This short video talks about not taking yourself seriously and judging yourself but feeling relief by knowing there are other people who experience the same feeling.

“A la niña del vestido azul” Is the first short film I did using stop motion. Although the film has a very poor technique of animation, it is a very important film for me because of the story and meaning. This is the story of a little girl who wants to get a new dress in order to look like the woman she sees on a billboard. She’s not able to get the red dress and she gets really sad about it and cries. Once she cries she realizes that her blue dress has the same colour as the sky, the sea and her mother’s eyes. This is another metaphor for accepting yourself and realizing the beauty that all things have including yourself.

This is a personal project I shot last year during a camping trip, I recorded the footage and edited. Part of my process as an artist is to continue experimenting and capturing moments of my own life.
